Sacred Divide are a 4 piece melodic/ progressive metal band from Oxfordshire that formed in late 2005. The band started out under the name of Axe Valley with former drummer Mike Hall (Now the bassist of Witney band, Skullthrash). After Mike’s departure Axe Valley began looking for a new drummer. Ash, the lead man behind the eastern metal band Zangryus answered their call, and Sacred Divide was born.

Taking influences from such bands as Dream Theater and Symphony X, the band’s style of music is now heavily leaning into a progressive approach with complex time signatures and key changes becoming ever more frequent with each song they write. Whilst aiming in this progressive direction Sacred Divide have a backlog of songs demonstrating their infallible versatility. Ranging from the hard rock 80’s influenced track “pedal to the metal” through to the thrash / tech metal efforts of “hellfire” to the 9 minute progressive / power metal epic “Of blood and treachery”. This wide variety of styles makes it impossible to tie this band down to a genre. The string linking these songs to the tangible puppet-hand that is Sacred Divide is technique, enthusiasm and dedication.
The music itself consists of crunching technical guitar riffs, dual guitar harmony sections, complex bass lines with methodological drumming accuracy. Not forgetting the progressions through time signatures, blistering shred solo trade-offs between guitarists and melodic vocals ranging from low to the high-pitch wails of power metal precision. All this with catchy hooks to boot, makes the band, Sacred Divide, what it is today.
Keep your eyes open - The band will be gigging in your local metal venue soon!
